The Gran Sasso is a small paradise for mountain enthusiasts. The Corno Grande highest peak in the Apennines, the Corno Piccolo, the Calderone glacier, which is the southernmost glacial system in Europe, and the mountain refuges are symbols of a tough and generous region. All this is the Gran Sasso, a massif of rocks as rugged and beautiful as the land of Abruzzo.

Registration

Registration (minimum 3 persons) will only be effective after payment of a deposit of € 100.00.
The deadline for registration and payment of the deposit is 10/07/2026.

Day One 24/07/2026

Ferrata al Bivacco Bafile - ascent to Corno Grande
From Campo Imperatore (2100 m), climb up to Sassone and turn right to take the ferrata that leads to Bivacco Bafile (2669 m) . The bivouac is situated on a rocky spur from which it is possible to see the summit of Corno Grande and all the eastern peaks of the Gran Sasso . We follow the same route and return to Sassone to climb the direttissima to Corno Grande (2914 m) . We descend to the Calderone glacier and from there to the Rifugio Franchetti (2,433 m). Overnight stay.

Corno Grande Eastern summit - Ricci via ferrata
he 'Ricci' equipped route leads to the eastern summit of Corno Grande, a summit that, although slightly lower than its western sister, is the most 'showy' thanks to its imposing east face that rises almost 1,500 m above the valley below.

Corno Piccolo Ferrata Danesi - Ferrata Brizio
The Corno Piccolo (2655 m) is the Gran Sasso peak that perhaps most of all offers a vast range of routes and itineraries, given its distinctly "dolomitic" shape, a route that is all carried out in a majestic and austere environment. It joins two of the main Gran Sasso ferratas, the Brizio and the Danesi, which, although they are considered to be advanced equipped hiking routes, represent two classic routes that are part of the mountaineering heritage of the massif.
