"The southernmost foothill of the Apuan Alps coincides with one of the most famous climbing areas in Tuscany . Just a few kilometres from the renowned Versilia is Camaiore and its beautiful crags set amidst hillside villages and deep valleys formed by cool streams flowing down from Mount Prana and Mount Gabberi. Limestone cliffs immersed in luxuriant vegetation where a group of volunteers have been working since 1985, equipping and maintaining the most varied rock architectures. To name a few, just think of the Candalla area near Camaiore or the Setriana Pillars above the enchanting village of Casoli. Or, moving a few kilometres further on, you can reach the village of s'Anna di Stazzema (sadly known for the massacre of the Nazis during the Second World War) where on the slopes of Mount Lieto are the 'task walls' with their many climbing routes suitable for all levels and seasons.
This climbing area is known as 'il Camaiorese' and can be considered to all intents and purposes as one of the largest and most beautiful areas for outdoor sport climbing in Italy. In fact, its more than 50 crags include more than 1500 routes that include some of the most difficult routes in Italy that have been visited by famous climbers such as Adam Ondra."
