A DIFFICULT WINTER!

Throughout Central Italy, in our Apennines, winter conditions are hard to come by...we look everywhere for conditions! Here is the report of our guide Pasquale Equizi from a few days ago:

L'Aquila - 4 January 2024

On the Campo Imperatore plateau there is only a dusting of snow on the ground these days. Due to the low rainfall and the high temperatures of the last period, the white mantle is irregular on the slopes of the area, which is unusual for the period. The too small amount of snow also does not allow skiers to ski.
'There is very little of it, the proof is that you get here by car, because you don't normally get here in winter. The road is closed because there is too much snow,' comments the president of the CAI L'Aquila section, Vincenzo Brancadoro.
