Franco discovered the mountains at an early age thanks to his family's hiking trails until, at the age of 16, he attended a mountaineering course and the spark was ignited. After a degree and a PhD in Meteorology, he decided to try to fulfil a big dream, that of living in the mountains. In 2012, he passed the selections to enter the course for Aspiring Mountain Guide and become a mountain professional, a title he obtained in November 2014.
After moving to Padua for his university studies, he found in the academic environment some exceptional companions with whom he experienced the years of discovery, touring the length and breadth of the Alps, discovering all the terrains of sport climbing, ice climbing, and ski mountaineering. Four wonderful years spent in Padua at the Veneto Region's Weather Centre allowed him to refine his knowledge of the Dolomites without ever forgetting the Apuan Alps, a splendid mountain range with climbs for all tastes.
In the meantime, he and some friends founded the 'Sottosopra Climbing House' in Pisa, one of the first indoor climbing facilities.
