Since 2003 he has also been teaching rope access techniques and has been part of the CNSAS with the qualification of IRTEC Regional Alpine Rescue Instructor.
Having gained experience first as a teenager on the sea cliffs of Muzzerone, La Spezia, he moved to the nearby Apuan Alps where, for over 30 years, he has been exploring the significant climbing potential that these mountains offer.
After bolting and opening many of the local routes and repeating almost all of the more difficult existing routes, his passion for unclimbed rock has led him to be involved in the opening of more than a thousand sport, trad and mountaineering routes around the world.
Among these are some absolute masterpieces of “ground-up bolted” first ascents, including some of the most beautiful and bold free climbing routes in the world, such as "Hotel Supramonte" in the Gorropu Gorges in Sardinia, the "Larcher-Vigiani" on Punta Penia in Marmolada and “La Svizzera” in the Wendestock massif in the Swiss Alps.
He is fascinated by all mountain activities, from rock to ice to ski mountaineering, but his greatest passion is rock climbing, which has seen him play an active role since the dawn of free-climbing, participating in the first climbing competitions as early as 1985 and has led him to climb the most famous sites in Europe, America and Asia. In the 1990s, he free climbed some of the most difficult 'modern' alpine routes in the Alps.
He participated in the first climbing competitions of the early 80s, and since then he has gone on to climb in all of the most famous climbing areas in Europe, America and Asia.
In the 1990s he free climbed some of the most difficult "modern" mountaineering routes in the Alps. Guiding and travelling has taken him to the four corners of the world - the Himalayas of Nepal, Patagonia, the famous walls of Yosemite and the highest peak of the Americas, Cerro Aconcagua, which stands at 6962 meters in Argentina.
He is specialized within the Collegio Nazionale delle Guide Alpine Italiane (National College of Italian MOUNTAIN GUIDES) in the equipping (bolting) of natural climbing areas and via ferrata and conducts training courses teaching these techniques.
